Tasmanians with low incomes saved $500,000 in predatory loan interest last year thanks to a powerful partnership between NILS Network of Tasmania and Aurora Energy.

Over 240 low-income Tasmanians also accessed an Aurora Energy subsidy, when coupled with a NILS loan, worth up to 50% off the purchase price of energy-efficient appliances like fridges, washers and heat pumps.

Beverley from Rokeby says her new heat pump keeps her warm and her bills low. She said, “It was so easy to access the NILS loan, it gave me breathing room for all the other bills.”

This initiative is helping Tasmanians make smarter energy choices, avoid predatory debt, and live with comfort and dignity.
